Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2023 Massillon Washington High School senior to their volleyball team.

On March 23, 2023, Makenzie Ailes signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Ailes, primarily an outside hitter/middle hitter and all-around, was a four-year letter winner for the Tigers volleyball team. She garnered Honorable Mention Northeast District honors as a sophomore and senior and also earned her captains pin in her final season. As a senior, she led the orange and black in blocking and ranked third in hitting and passing. In her junior year, she was first in hitting and second in both passing and serving. Her Club Extreme volleyball team finished in first place in the CLWCC and NOVA Junior tournament and third place at the 2023 Mizuno Steel City Freezer Tournament. She has also earned volleyball camp MVP honors and attended many showcases along with playing in an adult sand volleyball league.

Her community service includes taking part in a fundraising efforts for the Massillon Washington High School volleyball and athletic programs, while also taking part in youth skills camps. While busy with volleyball and volunteering she has held down several part-time jobs.

Her major is undecided at this time.

"Makenzie is a huge addition to the Golden Eagles volleyball team," said Cortney Goodwin, Head Volleyball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "She has a very calm demeanor, but she's all business on the court. She provides us with more hitting and blocking, but her experience at digging balls, passing and serving will definitely complement the skills of our team. We look forward to having her as a Golden Eagle."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
