Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2025 Dixie High School senior to their volleyball team.
On Wednesday, Ava Simon signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.
Simon, who was an outstanding player for the Greyhounds volleyball team and was 2nd Team All-League and Second Team All-District both her Junior and Senior Year. During her Junior year she received Dixie High School Defensive Player of the Year. And during her Senior season she achieved 1,000 career digs.
Academically, she currently holds a 4.3 GPA. And on top of that she has been a part of the National Honor Society for three years. And she currently holds the roll of Secretary of the National Honor Society.
Her community service includes being in 4-H for 13 years, holding Multiple rolls over the years such as secretary, vice-president, and president. She served on the Junior Fair board for 3 years. She was a camp counselor for 3 years. And she won the Live Like Levi award in 2024. Simon was also Runner-Up for Fair queen in 2025 fair.
She will pursue a nursing degree at Kent State Tuscarawas.
"Ava Simon is not only a great person but is someone who is very committed to improving to be the best version of herself not only on the volleyball court but in the classroom ," said KSU Tuscarawas Head Volleyball Coach Cortney Goodwin. "With her abilities and the team we have coming back, she will only help to add to a very talented room."
