Bowlers Welcome Back Season In Tourney

The Kent State Tuscarawas women's bowling team traveled to the capital city on Friday and Saturday, to take part in the first-ever Welcome Back Tourney hosted by Muskingum University. The event was held at Columbus Square Palace and the field included seven women's collegiate teams.

The Golden Eagles finished seventh of seven teams in the tournament and knocked down 3676 pins, with a team high game of 469.

Senior, Makenna Wimer, made the most of the start to her senior season by finishing 20th as an individual overall in a field of 67 bowlers. She had a nine-game average of 151.44 and a high game of 182 for the weekend.

Alysa Thornhill, a freshman from Louisville, finished 31st with 1212 total pins and a nine-game average of 134.67. She rolled a 201 for the Eagles highest game of the tournament, while Ashlee Burns finished 40th with an average of 122.33 and a high game of 165.

The Eagles were playing shorthanded for the tournament, with just three of their five bowlers available.

KSU Tusc will be back in action on Saturday, October 1st, in the season opening tournament for the Ohio Bowling Conference back at Palace Lanes. Bowling will start at 10:00 a.m.
