After a one and one-half week layoff between games, the Golden Eagles baseball team watched both games against Westmoreland Community College slip away from them early, as they dropped 12-2 and 19-8 decisions to the Wolfpack on Saturday afternoon.

KSU Tusc struggled in the field and on offense in the opener, as they surrendered 12 runs and committed four fielding errors, while the visitors scored all the runs they needed over the course of the first three innings of the game.

The big uprising came in the top of the third when The Pack tallied nine times on two doubles, five singles and three Navy and Gold errors to take command of the game before the 10-run mercy rule was invoked after five innings.

Meanwhile, the Eagles were limited to just two runs on five hits. Mason Eicher collected two singles in three trips to the plate, while Jacob Bialecki singled home a run with a sharp single to left field.

It was more the same in the second game, as Westmoreland scored five times in the top of the first and added two-runs in each visiting half of the second and third stanzas to take a 9-0 lead.

This time, the Eagles found an answer as their bats came alive. They scored four runs in the third and four more in the fifth inning to climb back into game and trail just 9-8.

The rally in the third was aided by two Westmoreland errors, while the four-run fourth was highlighted by an Owen Nunnally single that plated two runs, an error on a sharply hit ball to third by Eicher and a line-shot double to left field by Owen Poland.

The excitement was short-lived however, as the Wolfpack exploded for nine runs in the seventh inning as they pounded out four singles, two doubles and two monster homeruns after adding a single run in the fifth inning.

Westmoreland collected 21 hits in the game.

Nunnually led a six-hit Golden Eagle attack with two safeties and two RBIs, while Eicher scored two runs.
