Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2022 Tallmadge High School senior to their basketball team.

On May 25, Aaron Gergely signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Gergely, primarily a shooting guard/stretch forward, was a two-year letter winner for the Blue Devils. He was a team captain during his senior year, earned a Second Team All-Suburban League selection and an Honorable Mention spot on the All Northeast Ohio-Inland Team in 2021-22. Gergely was also awarded the Tallmadge High School Steve Mazzaferro Award—given to a basketball player whose work ethic is an inspiration to his team. He also earned a golf letter and served as team captain his senior year.

Academically, he was on the Respect club for 2 years and was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) for 2 years. He was also in the Pep Club for a year.

His community service includes helping coach in the Tallmadge youth basketball summer program for all four years of high school.

He will pursue a Bachelor's in Business Management at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"Aaron is a very talented young man who also happens to be a wonderful teammate," said Richard Tharp, Head Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "He is a great leader and has the ability to shoot the lights out. We are very excited to add his leadership, shooting ability and experience at playing multiple positions to our team ."
