Rockets Lyon To Launch Collegiate Career With Golden Eagles

Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2020 Conotton Valley High School graduate to their women's basketball team. On June 1, 2020, Sydney Lyon signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Golden Eagles.

Lyon was a four-year letter winner for the Rockets basketball team and also a 1000 point scorer (1279). After her senior season, she was named District 5 Player of the Year, Honorable Mention All-Ohio, First Team Inter Valley Conference (IVC), IVC Defensive Player of the Year, First Team District 5 and was also recognized as an Alternate for the annual Ohio North/South All-Star game. In addition, she received the IVC All-Conference Award for all four years of high school, along with garnering East District Honorable Mention honors as a freshman and East District Second Team honors as a junior. She was also selected to the District 5 First Team as a sophomore and junior, was Special Mention All-Ohio and First Team IVC as a junior.

"We are so proud to be able to welcome a player of Syd's caliber to our team," said Wallace Stuchul, Head Women's Basketball Coach for Kent State Tuscarawas. "She is a very versatile player and brings it on both ends of the court, as evidenced by her offensive prowess and her IVC defensive award. She should also be recognized for always being ready to play and being a great teammate. She has meant so much to Conotton Valley and will play a big role in our success as well."

Kent State Tuscarawas is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).
