Darryl L. "D.A." Anderson, Sr. of Tallmadge, OH, is in his first season as the head womens’s basketball coach for Kent State University at Tuscarawas. He has more than 30 years of basketball coaching experience, having served as girls varsity head coach at Copley, Ravenna and Akron East High Schools. He has coached varsity boys programs at Akron Coventry and Akron Central-Hower High Schools.

Anderson currently teaches Fire Safety/EMS at Akron Ellet High School after retiring from the City of Warren Fire Department following 33 years of service.

His successful coaching career includes highlights starting in 1988 when he coached the Akron Coventry boys to the best record in the program's last 50 years. Other highlights include coaching the Akron East girls team despite only having six girls, one basketball and seven jerseys to start. He managed to turn the program around and in his last year at the helm guided Dragons to the level of league contenders in the 2017-18 season. Numerous athletes who played under Anderson's tutelage have gone onto play collegiately from NCAA D3 to the D1 level.

Coach Anderson is certified by the American Heart Association in CPR – First Aid, has earned his Concussion Protocol Certification and is also certified by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to coach in exposure events.
