Kent State University at Tuscarawas is announcing the signing of a 2024 Akron Garfield High School senior to their volleyball team.

X'Zariyah Fannin recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the Golden Eagles.

Fannin, a 6' 2" senior and primarily a center, was a one-year letterwinner in basketball for the Rams and also lettered for the Alliance Aviators for one season. She was selected to the Tri County All Star Team and averaged 10 points per game, seven rebounds per game, 1.2 blocks and one steal per game her senior year at Garfield.

As a volunteer, she has worked for Forever R Children, a Summit County non-profit serving the economically insecure via food pantries in local schools, transportation for youth with disabilities and providing clothing and mentoring to at-risk youth.

She will pursue a Bachelor's of Business Administration – Business Management degree at Kent State Tuscarawas.

"X'Zariyah has a nose for the ball and is a prized big in our recruiting class," said KSU Tuscarawas Head Women's Basketball Coach Darryl Anderson. "Offensively she has great footwork, knows where the basket is when her back is turned to it, and her ability to block shots discourages a lot of players from entering the lane and often alters their shots or path to the basket."
