The Kent State Tuscarawas wrestling team hosted the first-ever Golden Eagles Duals on Saturday and split their four matches on the afternoon. Grand Valley State University swept all four matches they competed in for the day, while Niagara County CC was 2-1, Kent State Tusc 2-2, Slippery Rock 1-3 and Mercyhurst NE 0-3.
On the strength of four pins and a couple of forfeits, the Kent State Tuscarawas wrestling team downed visiting PSU Fayette 39-6 on Wednesday night. It was the Navy and Gold's first win of the New Year and an important one to gather momentum ahead of the Golden Eagles Duals coming up on Saturday.
The Kent State Tuscarawas wrestling team rang in the new year by participating in the Washington & Lee University Invitational in Virginia on Saturday. The event was held at Southern Virginia University due to construction on the WLU campus and the Navy and Gold finished seventh in a very strong field of eight teams.
The Navy and Gold clad wrestlers fought with everything thing they had to try and salvage a second win on the day in their own quad, only to fall to the Otterbein Cardinals 39-18. Things looked good for the hosts who led five matches in the last match of the day and were tied 18-18 after the sixth.
The Golden Eagles grapplers lost the middle match of the day in their first home quad ever, as they fell 37-14 to Mott University from Flint, Michigan.
Hosting the campus' first-ever wrestling quad, the Kent State Tuscarawas Golden Eagles got the day off on the right foot as they beat the University of Toledo 42-20 in Founders Hall Gym.
The Kent State Tuscarawas Wrestling Team was victim of a fast start by Lourdes University, as the Golden Eagles lost the first six matches eventually losing their dual to the Gray Wolves 41-6. Lourdes, an NAIA program picked up their fourth and fifth victories of the season on Saturday, as the Gray Wolves downed Kent State-Tuscarawas and Ohio Valley 24-19 inside the Franciscan Center Gymnasium.
The Kent State Tuscarawas Wrestling Team bounced back in the final match of a tri at Lourdes University, but fell short in losing to NCAA Division II foe Ohio Valley University 36-19. On the day, the Golden Eagles were 0-2 losing the opening match to host Lourdes.
